PHINOCCIO
Once there was a wood carver named Geppetto.Once day, he found a strange block of wood, that could laugh and chatter and jump. He took it home to his work-shop, and carvd it into a puppet, he named Pinocchio.
Pinocchio was so full of mischief that old Geppetto could hardly keep up with him. "You must go to school and learn to be good," he said.Geppetto sold his coat to buy books for Pinocchio, and sent him off to school.
In his heart ,Pinocchio really intended to study hard and learn to help his father, for he knew that this was the only way in which he could become a real boy.But he found that studying was not narly so much fun as playing. He made friends with lazy boys, who taught him to be lazy too.
OneIday, he sold his books and bought a ticket for a puppet play. This caused such exicitement among the puppets on the stage that the puppet master was furious. "It was my fault, not theirs," Pinocchio said."Forgive them!" So the man forgave the puppets, and even rewarded Pinocchio with gold coins.
"I'll take this gold home to Father!" Pinocchio exclainmed. "How happy he will be!" But his words were overheard by a fox and a cat that always lay in wait for noughty boys with money to spend. They greeted him like an old friend, and invited him to dinner at an inn. After dinner, the two animals hurried away, and left Pinocchio to pay the bill. The way was pitch dark, and before long, Pinocchio thought that he heard footsteps behind him. "Your money or your life!" said two eery voices.
Quickly, Pinocchio scrambled up a nearby tree. But the thieves caught him, took his money, and tied him to the tree. Their eyes glowed in the dark, like the eyes of cats and foxes. From sheer terrror, Pinocchio fainted.
When Pinocchio came to himself again, he was in a soft bed. Three doctors and a lovely lady with blue hair were keeping watch over him." Pinocchio!" the lady said, 'You don't know me, but i know you, for I am your fairly godmother. Your poor father is wandering through the word looking for you. You will never become a real boy unless you can find him."
Pinocchio set off to find Geppetto. On his way, he met his lazy friends riding in adonkey-cart, "Come along, Pinocchio!" they shouted."Let's g to Donkey-land, where there are no schools."Pinocchio went with them.before they knew it, they all turned into little donkeys.Pinocchio was sold to a circus-trainer, who beat him.
"Take this donkey, and throw him into the sea!" the trainer ordered."I'll never find father,"Pinocchio thought sadly. In the water, fishes crowded around him. They nibbled away his donkey hide, but when he was free, a great shark swallowed him.In the shark's belly, he found Geppetto. The shark had eaten him, too."We must swim!" Pinocchio said.At home, the fairly was waiting. "Pinocchio , you have saved your father," she said."Now, you deserve to become a real boy." Pinocchio and Geppetto worked hard carving beautiful dolls and puppets. They were very happy.
